Alyssa is a child sexual abuse Survivor, living on Kaurna Country in greater Adelaide, where she is raising her two young sons.

As a mother, sister, and Victim Survivor, Alyssa is passionate about raising awareness of child sexual abuse and the lasting, intergenerational impacts it can have.

She is deeply committed to breaking down stigma and ensuring that every Survivor has access to the understanding, support, and community they deserve.

Alyssa’s journey of healing began when a friend bravely shared her own story, helping Alyssa realise she was not alone. Confronted by the devastating truth that so many adult Survivors live in silence, she found the strength to speak out, share her story, and seek justice through the legal system — not only to hold her perpetrator accountable, but to show other Survivors that they too are not alone.

Despite being told that a conviction was unlikely due to the passage of time, Alyssa pursued justice with extraordinary courage. Her determination led to her abuser being convicted — a powerful reminder that time does not erase harm or silence the truth.

Speaking up came at great personal cost, including the loss of some relationships, but Alyssa found solidarity and hope in the Survivor community, whose support helped her stand strong through the long and difficult legal process.

In 2023, Alyssa attended the National Survivors Day event hosted by Her Excellency the Governor of South Australia, the Honourable Frances Adamson AC. Inspired by the courage and advocacy of other Victim Survivors, Alyssa joined the movement for victim-focused reform and child sexual abuse awareness.

Today, we are honoured to welcome Alyssa as the South Australian Ambassador for National Survivors Day, as she continues to fearlessly champion a future free from sexual assault and institutional abuse.
