During her undergraduate law and psychology degrees, Amanda realised that lawyers are assumed to be equipped to serve survivors of violence by virtue of having a practicing certificate, yet many law schools and colleges of law do not teach students about trauma. in 2022 Amanda was awarded a Churchill Fellowship to investigate trauma-informed lawyering for historically underserved survivors internationally and has commenced a PhD in law. In 2023 Amanda commenced a PhD in law, and undertook the Justice as Trauma conference and Professional Development Training with Meti Cree 2 Spirit Lawyer Myrna Mccallum (both eligible for CPD points with the Law Society of British Columbia)  and is currently completed the Trauma Informed Lawyer Certification Course with the Law Society of Scotland.
