Melanie Jai

Melanie lives on Gadigal land in the Eora Nation (Sydney).

Melanie is a survivor.

Melanie Jai is an artist, advocate, and changemaker who uses her creativity as a tool for liberation and healing.

Her striking, whimsical artworks invite audiences to explore the hidden stories of trauma and survival, sparking essential conversations around abuse, resilience, and recovery.

Having endured her own experiences of trauma and silence, Melanie’s journey through breakdown and rebuilding stands as a testament to her tenacity and unwillingness to give up. Through her art, she transforms personal pain into bold, lyrical storytelling that resonates deeply with survivors and allies alike.

Beyond her art, Melanie founded Brave Not Broken, a growing social movement that empowers abuse Survivors to step into their strength and embrace change. Her work is collected around the world, but her true impact lies in the way she challenges perceptions, confronts stigma, and inspires others to speak out.

Melanie is unapologetically determined to ensure her voice — and the voices of other Survivors — are never silenced again. She wears her vulnerability as a form of strength, stepping courageously into difficult spaces to create understanding, healing, and change.

Join us in welcoming Melanie as she continues to fearlessly lead the charge towards a world free from sexual assault and institutional abuse.
